AMSORB® Plus CO2 Absorbent
AMSORB® Plus is a CO₂ absorbent developed for anaesthesia care. It is an absorbent that is free of strong alkali agents.
It is necessary during low flow anaesthesia to absorb and neutralise endogenous CO₂ produced during respiration.
It works by reacting calcium hydroxide with CO₂ and water to form calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and water.
The product provides an irreversible colour-change indicator from white to violet when exhausted to help monitor its usage status safely and efficiently.
Unlike other absorbents such as soda limes, AMSORB® Plus is incapable of anaesthetic degradation in any state of use and does not produce harmful by-products such as formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and compound A.
As AMSORB® Plus breaks down into harmless organic compounds, so it’s easier on patients and staff and simpler to dispose of as not considered hazardous waste.
